Welcome!
We are the McKen's
16 Mile is located in seclusion amidst a northern wilderness backdrop. No Telephone or Hydro Poles anywhere around.
Welcome! We are a husband and wife team (Jon & Jodi) who move 24.5 km’s down the Telegraph Creek Road in the remote wilderness of Dease Lake, B.C to enjoy living a sustainable lifestyle.
We first lived in the original heritage cabin which we now call the Family Cabin. We renovated the cabin and added a large log addition to it. During our stay we found a need for another cabin for our friends and guests. Thus, the Trapper’s cabin was our second cabin we undertook to build. We harvest the trees off the property, peeled and erected our cozy Trapper’s Cabin.
Once we moved to the creek we had empty cabins. A friend introduced us to Airbnb and Voila, and this is how we began our adventure of cabin rentals.
And it is a great adventure. With a lot of hard work we are having a blast. The fun and interesting people we get to meet is amazing.
Creating an enjoyable place for people to come and enjoy an off grid northern experience has been hard work, but we would not change it for the world. So if you are ever wondering how comfy life would be in a grid down scenario, come check us out! We would love to meet you!
Sincerely,
Jodi McKen
